The DS Product Plan for 2021-2026
- 说明
The DS Product Plan for 2021-2026
- The DS brand (Stellantis group) has communicated its product plan until 2026. Used to be the only Premium brand of the PSA group, DS has seen now other brands enter its market following the merger with FCA (Fiat-Chrysler), such as Alfa-Romeo or Lancia.
- The main challenge for DS will therefore be to clearly differentiate itself from these two Italian brands which have joined the Stellantis group. Alfa-Romeo is more oriented "sporty" (as BMW) while Lancia will target more luxury (as Mercedes). From 2024, all DS models that will go into production will be 100% electric.
- The current renewal program is focused on the imminent launch (fall 2021) of the DS 4 which will be in the carmaker's range between the DS 3 Crossback(B-segment B) and the DS 7 Crossback(C-segment). This model will be available in a 100% electric version from 2024.
- In 2022, the DS 7 Crossback(C-segment) will be facelifted, one year before the facelift of the DS 3 Crossback.
- In 2023, the new STLA Medium platforms will appear, which will be launched by the new generations of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. It is therefore on these platforms that the future DS 7 Crossback and DS 8 Crossback will be designed. These two top-of-the-range models will be launched in 2025 and 2026 respectively, with a 100% electric engine.
- 2026 should also see the renewal of the DS 3 Crossbackand the launch of a C-segment coupe SUV inspired by the Aero Sport Lounge concept car. A seven-seater SUV (code P95) is also under consideration. These three vehicles will adopt a 100% electric motorisation.

Renault changes partner in China
- 说明
Renault changes partner in China
- The Renault group set a partnership with Dongfeng in the 2010s to produce and sell vehicles in China. This choice was pushed by the fact that Dongfeng was the principal partner of Nissan, Renault's partner in the Renault-Nissan Alliance. What had worked so well with Nissan in China could also be repeated with Renault, but the Chinese sales of Renault never really took off. In 2020, 1,133,000 Nissan were sold in China while Renault sales did not exceed 5,500 units (compared to 20,000 in 2019, 50,000 in 2018 and 72,000 in 2017).
- Suddenly, Renault had considered leaving the Chinese market, but like PSA (now Stellantis), the French carmaker decided to stay in China but to find a new local partner. It was finally with Geely, the first independent Chinese carmaker, that the agreement was reached.
- Geely is a large group which owns the Volvo, Polestar, Lynk & Co, Proton, Lotus and LEVC brands. It is also a Daimler partner in the future Smart made in China project.
- Without being involved again in the future Smart project, Renault could design and market hybrid and electric vehicles jointly under the Geely and Renault brands. Remaining the case of the Dacia Spring which is still assembled at Dongfeng plant and also the case of the Ezoom Yi sedan which we should discover in Europe in the coming months (under the Mobilize brand). Renault's strategy in China therefore seems to be questionable today without being redefined with precision.
