What is the share of rechargeable hybrids for each available model ?
Inovev calculated the share of models sold in Europe in 2016 in a plug-in hybrid version, for those available in both a plug-in hybrid and a 100% thermal version.

Inovev thus listed 20 models that were available in Europe in 2016 with at least these two types of engines.

The share of sales of plug-in hybrids for these 20 models varies from 1% for the Mercedes E-Class (the mid-year plug-in hybrid version) to 56% for the Mitsubishi Outlander, the most “hybridised“ vehicle . The average for all of these twenty models is 6%.

Models that have a share of rechargeable hybrid sales greater than 6% are Volvo XC90 (28%), Porsche Panamera (19%), Porsche Cayenne (17%), BMW X5 (15%),  Volvo S60/V60 (8%), Kia Optima (8%), VW Passat (7%) and BMW 7 Series (7%). This shows  that hybridization is strong on high-end models and particularly on high-end SUVs (XC90, Cayenne, X5, Q7). It is in this segment that the bulk of the customer base of the rechargeable hybrids is located.

Inovev accounted for a total of 107,000 plug-in hybrids in Europe in 2016, for models available in 100% thermal version, plus 6,000 sales of plug-in hybrids available only with this type of engine or with a non-rechargeable hybrid version (mainly Toyota Prius).

Russian market grows 6,9% over the first 6 months of 2017
The Russian market recorded its fourth consecutive month of growth in June 2017 (+ 13.8%) and in the first six months of the year, the increase reached 6.9%, a figure in line with Inovev forecasts for the year (+ 5%),  announced six months ago, while the Russian market continued to decline.

After four years of uninterrupted decline, the Russian market seems to be firmly starting again, since the increases recorded in recent months are by no means negligible.

The month of May 2017 had thus enabled the Russian market to record its first double-digit monthly growth for many years and the month of June confirmed this trend. If this growth were to continue, the Russian market could increase by 10% rather than  5% for the whole year , which would bring it to around 1.6 million units, the level reached in 2015.

However, the Russian market reached almost 3 million units in 2008 and almost 3 million units in 2012, so it will still take time to regain such levels ... The increase over all six of the first months of the year is due in part to the help of the Russian government which has supported the car market through scrappage incentives  and credit aid that it intends to pursue in the coming months.

US market drops for the sixth consecutive month in June 2017
The US automotive market recorded its sixth consecutive month of decline in June 2017, despite high discounts and a still strong demand for light trucks. Sales of new light-duty vehicles fell by 2.5% in June 2017 to just under 1.5 million units, bringing the volume for the first six months of 2017 to 8.45 million units a decrease of 2.1%.

The  American big three major  posted contrasting results over the first half:
General Motors sales fell 1.7% (to 1.41 million units) and Fiat-Chrysler's sales were down 6.6% (to 1.07 million units), while those of Ford -who temporarily occupied the position of leader of the US market in May- declined by 3.8% (to 1.29 million units).

Asian manufacturers:
Toyota sales were down 3.6% (to 1.15 million units), but Honda's sales fell only  0.1% (to 0.79 million units) and those of Nissan increased by 2.7% (to 0.82 million units). Sales of Hyundai-Kia fell 8.6% to 0.64 million units.

German manufacturers:
BMW sales fell by 4.1% (to 0.17 million units) and Daimler by 0.8% (to 0.18 million units). Sales of the Volkswagen group, on the other hand, increased by 7.2% (to 0.29 million units).

Inovev predicts production per year at 100 000 for Renault Koleos
While in China, Renault has been marketing its segment D SUV, the Koléos, since November 2016 (it sold 27,000 units on the Chinese market since then), the French manufacturer began its marketing six months later in Europe.

There have been 1,100 units sold on this market since that date.

In China, the Koleos sells twice as much as the Kadjar but in Europe the Kadjar belongs to the C segment SUVs, where there is more volume than the D segment.

The Koléos (length: 4.67m) is based on its CMF-C / D platform, also used by  the Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Rogue, Renault Espace, Renault Talisman, Renault Scénic and Renault Mégane.

Its engines are two in number: a diesel 1.6 /130hp and a diesel 2.0 /175hp.

Inovev expects 25,000 sales of Koleos in Europe and 75,000 in China. While China is supplied by the Renault-Dongfeng factory in Wuhan, Europe is supplied by the Renault-Samsung plant in Busan (Korea). In Korea, the Koleos has been sold under the name Renault-Samsung QM6 since May 2016 (26,000 sales since that date, an average of 30,000 sales a year, considering  sales over  the last six months).

Inovev predicts sales of 75 000 et 100 000 per year for the new Hyundai Kona
The Korean manufacturer Hyundai has unveiled its segment B SUV, the Kona, which is expected to gradually replace the B-segment MPV, the iX20, whose origins go back to 2010. Indeed, manufacturers are increasingly replacing their B segment compact MPVs by B segment SUVs, in response to the  sharply declining demand for  compact MPVs and the strongly  growing  demand for compact SUVs.

Thus, we saw Renault replace the Modus by the Captur SUV, Opel replace the Meriva by the CrosslandSUV,or Citroën replace the C3 Picasso by the C3 Aircross SUV . Peugeot replaced its 207 estate with the 2008  and Seat replaced its Altea with the Ateca SUV. Hyundai is  following  the same logic.

The new Kona, considering  its dimensions (length: 4.16m), competes directly with the Renault Captur (4,12m), Peugeot 2008 (4,16m) and Nissan Juke (4,14m). It measures 4cm more than a Hyundai iX 20 and 32cm less than a Hyundai Tucson.

The engines of the Kona are the following: a 3-cylinder gasoline 1.0 / 120hp, a 4 cylinders gasoline  1.6 / 177hp and a diesel  1.6 of 115hp and 135hp.

For now, the Kona is made in Korea but may eventually replace the iX20 at the Hyundai site in Nosovice (Czech Republic). Inovev expects a volume of 75,000 to 100,000 sales a year in Europe. In Korea, Hyundai plans to sell 50,000 Kona a year.
