Chery and Jaguar Land Rover start a joint venture plant in Changshu

- Chery and Jaguar Land Rover have announcec on 18 November 2012 that they have laid the foundation stone of a new plant in Changshu close to Shanghai. This plant comes as a part of the new 50:50 % Joint-Venture of the two companies.
It will produce the models Freelander and Evoque.
- Jaguar Land Rover is controlled by the Indian conglomerate Tata.
It is specialized in high-end range cars as well as SUV.
These segments are under strong demand in China.
- Chery has a wide range of cars.
It is more specifically known for its small car such as QQ wghich is a copy of the Chevrolet Matiz.
It is however also present on the SUV market, in particular with the Tiggo.
- The alchimie between the two carmakers allying a srong technical expertise from Jaguar and Landrover in luxury SUVand the presence on the market of Chery should enable the new JV to compete in a good position with the players already on the market.

- Toyota has overpassed in October the threshold of 4.6 million hybrid vehicles sold worldwide since the launch of the Prius in 1997.
- Out of this total, 2.04 million units were sold in Japan, almost as much in the United States (1.87 million units), and less than 400,000 in
Europe.
- Hybrids currently account for 15% of global sales of Toyota and 40% of its sales in Japan.
The manufacturer offers in its range 19 hybrids and plug-in hybrid, that it sells in approximately 80 countries.

Renault wants to increase the competitiveness of its plants in Europe

- Renault and unions are discussing an agreement aiming at an increase of competiveness of French plants of the group with, as a
counterpart, a commitment of Renault not to close any French site. Within the frame of this agreement, Renault will however have
the possibility to decrease the number of workers on the different sites.
- Each of the four scheduled meetings (next to be held November 29) will be an opportunity to define the main principles of industrial
organization to implement.
- Today, the French Renault factories are under production compared to the European average.
They produce an average of 110 000 to 130 000 to be compared to 170 000 in European car factories (average for all car manufacturers).
