Hyundai-Kia use more than 100% of its capacities

- Seung-Tack Kim, International manager of Hyundai announced that Hyundai and Kia plants run at over 100% of their capacities. The Korean group will produce 7.1 million vehicles in 2012 (versus 6.6 million in 2011) for a potential of... 7,000,000 (two teams).

- "We must therefore use overtime to meet the demand," precise M.Kim, adding that the group does not want overcapacity that may influence its sales prices.

- The Korean group prefers to add new teams in existing plants rather than building new plants, for economical and financial reasons.

Citroën postpones the future C5 launch

- Citroën should launch the third generation of the C5 in 2016 and not in 2014 as originally planned. This report is directly related to the PSA-GM agreement on future common platforms.

- Within the scope of the partnership between PSA Peugeot Citroën and General Motors, the next C5, Peugeot 508 and Opel Insignia should indeed be based on similar technical modules, which motivated the postponement.

- In 2014, Citroën will launch the DS-X crossover, whose size is similar to the Audi Q5’s or BMW X3’s. Primarily designed for the Chinese market, the DS-X will also be commercialised in Europe. It could be assembled in the Sochaux PSA Peugeot Citroën plant, on the same line as the Peugeot 3008 and Citroën DS5 and also be available in a Hybrid4 version.

The Fiat-Chrysler group will produce 4.25 million vehicles in 2012

- The Fiat-Chrysler group is now composed of two entities to be merged in the near future:

the Fiat Group (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia)

and the Chrysler Group (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep).

- In 2012, Fiat-Chrysler worldwide production will exceed 4 million units.

- Since the 2009 crisis, Chrysler division caught up Fiat division and in 2012, Chrysler will produce as many vehicles as Fiat.

- Fiat is however decreasing since 2007, which has probably convinced the board to relocate Fiat on the Chinese market.

Fiat has ambition to sell 500,000 cars in China in 2015

- Fiat, which has finalised a JV with GAC (Guangqi Automotive Corporation) last year, has ambition to sell 500 000 cars in China in 2015.

- The Viaggio model (based on the Dodge Dart, and therefore on the Alfa Giulietta) knows indeed a success going beyond manufacturer’s expectations (15 000 sales after six months on the market).

- The objective of 500 000 sales in 2015 will be however difficult to reach. It is to be noted that it took three years to other carmakers ( in particular Volkswagen, GM, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota or Honda) to reach such a volume.

- Fiat comes last in a highly competitive and very crowded market.

- Today the Renault-Nissan Alliance is composed of three groups:

-Renault Group (Renault, Dacia, Samsung),

-Nissan Group (Nissan, Datsun, Infiniti Group)

-and Avtovaz (Lada).

- In 2012 and for the first time in its history, the Renault-Nissan Alliance will produce more than 8 million vehicles in the world.

- Since 2009, Nissan had a better growth than Renault, which has probably convinced the board to set up Renault on the Chinese market in a long term view.
