Inovev predicts more than 80 000 sales for the new Ford Expedition
- Ford unveiled the new generation of Expedition, which is the largest SUV in the brand since its inception in 1997. This model is in its fourth generation (the previous generation was in 2007) and is still based on the platform used by the F-Series pick-up, which was renewed in 2015. The Expedition also has an aluminum body in white . This large SUV is traditionally the direct competitor of the Chevrolet Suburban which is on the same platform as the Silverado pickup. The Expedition has always had a Lincoln version , the Navigator (competitor of the Cadillac Escalade) , and the new Navigator should also be unveiled in the coming months.
- The Ford Expedition has been manufactured at the Louisville (Kentucky) site since 2009, along with the Lincoln Navigator. It was previously manufactured at the Wayne, Michigan site, not far from the site where the F Series is produced. The new generation of Ford Expedition follows a model that had reached nearly 80,000 sales in 2016 (against 60,000 in 2015). The sales figures achieved by the previous generation (2008-2017) are however quite far from those recorded before 2008 (more than 100,000 units per year), but Inovev expects the 80,000 sales to be surpassed again in 2017, despite the expected contraction of the US market is this year.
- The Ford Expedition will, as in the past, only be marketed in North America.

Global Production Situation (PC+UV) in 2016 including Chinese Carmakers

Global Production Situation (PC+UV) in 2016 including Chinese Carmakers
- The usual classification of world automotive production by manufacturer incorporates the production of Chinese manufacturers making cars for foreign manufacturers in the production of those foreign manufacturers. This ranking shows Volkswagen Group asthe world's leading manufacturer in 2016, ahead of Toyota, General Motors, Renault-Nissan and Hyundai-Kia.
- Inovev has compiled a different ranking that integrates the production of Chinese car manufacturers for foreign manufacturers in the production of those Chinese manufacturers. This ranking shows 5 Chinese manufacturers in the top 15 global manufacturers (including SAIC in 6th position with 5.6 million vehicles produced, Dongfeng in 10th position with 3.3 million vehicles produced ,and FAW in 11th place with 2.8 million vehicles produced) and especially that the world's largest carmaker is the Toyota group (9 million units), ahead of Renault-Nissan (8.4 million), VW (6.4 million) , Hyundai-Kia (6.2 million) and GM (5.9 million).
- International manufacturers that achieve a significant volume of production in China (through JVs) are , of course, disadvantaged in this ranking. This is how VW and GM each lose two places globally in this ranking. FCA and Suzuki on the other hand are not affected because they produce very little in China.

The Most Produced Car in Asia in 2016
- Details
The Most Produced Car in Asia in 2016
- The most produced car in Asia in 2016 is also the most produced car in China in 2016, as the Wuling Hongguang, part of the GM group, like Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Holden or Baojun.
- The Hongguang is a compact MPV that can carry up to eight passengers and was launched in 2010. It was sold and produced at 847,000 units in 2016 and has become the best-selling model in China since 2014.
- It is the fifth most produced model in the world in 2016, behind the Ford F-Series (1,012,000 units), Toyota Corolla (985,000 units), VW Golf (970,000 units) and Hyundai Elantra ( 875, 000 units ).
- Wuling has been a minivan specialist in China since its inception in 2002. Until now, this Chinese firm linked to SAIC and bought by GM only sells its vehicles in China. With strong growth in sales of SUVs in this market, Wuling has experienced a significant decline in sales over the past two years. While the company sold 1.6 million vehicles in China in 2014, it sold only 1.3 million in 2015 and 1 million in 2016, while the Chinese market as a whole grew from 23.5 million to 28 million units. Wuling is challenged by both the SUVs and by internal competition from Baojun, another Chinese brand of the GM group.

The Most Produced Car in Europe in 2016

The Most Produced Car in Europe in 2016
- The most produced car in Europe in 2016 is also the most produced car in Germany in 2016 : the Volkswagen Golf (650,000 units of which 455,000 sold in Europe).
- The Volkswagen Golf is the most produced vehicle in Europe since the end of the 70s. It has also been on many occasions the best-selling car in Europe, especially, without interruption, since 2007.
- The Volkswagen Golf is produced in Europe on a single site, that of Wolfsburg, the historic site of the German brand where the Beatle was made until 1978. But the Golf is also manufactured on other continents (notably in China and Mexico) , giving a total of 970,000 units produced in 2016. It is the third most sold model in the world, behind the Ford F-Series (1,012,000 units produced) and the Toyota Corolla (985,000 units produced). It is ahead of the Hyundai Elantra (875,000 units), WulingHongguang (847,000 units), Nissan Rogue / X-Trail (810,000 units) and Ford Focus (675,000 units). The Golf is now in its seventh generation.
- The Volkswagen Golf remains a crucial model for the manufacturer, with this model accounting for 15% of the brand's global sales in 2016 (not including the Jetta, Bora and Vento trike derivatives). It will be replaced in 2019.

Alfa-Romeo will not renew Mito et Giulietta

Alfa-Romeo will not renew Mito et Giulietta
- Although the management of FCA announced in 2014 that, thanks to the renewal and the extension of the range of the brand, it would sell 400,000 Alfa Romeos per year as of 2018,, in recent months the ambitions of the manufacturer have been revised significantly downwards. The new Giulia sedan has difficulty in the D segment premium category (only 10,000 sales in 2016) and its sales in the US market could be compromised by the Trump administration's intention to tax imported vehicles . The break version of the Giulia will finally not be launched. In addition, the Mito (segment B) and Giulietta (segment C), which account for the bulk of sales, will not be replaced.
- The future of the brand is based on the recently launched Stelvio SUV (Giulia platform) and a hypothetical launch in 2019 of E-segment models, the Alfetta sedan and the Alfetta-based SUV. These high-end models will be launched only if Giulia sales meet the manufacturer’s expectations , which does not seem to be the case today.
- With the planned cancellation of the Mito and Giulietta, it seems that the launch of a C segment SUV is compromised. Finally, the launch of a sports coupe derived from the Giulia is also in question. In conclusion, Alfa-Romeo will certainly not sell 400,000 cars in 2018 or even in the following years. Inovev expects 130,000 sales in 2018 and not much more in subsequent years. Ultimately, Alfa ,like Lancia , seems doomed.
