Volvo V60

Volvo presents  the new generation of the V60 wagon at the Geneva Motor Show 2018 . The new V60 (D-segment) is based on the SPA platform shared with the Volvo XC60, XC90 and S90 / V90. This is the modular platform dedicated to Volvo D and E segment models.

The V60 rivals the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4 estate, which is the premium D segment.

The Volvo V60 will be powered by T4 2.0 (190hp), T5 2.0 (254hp), T6 plug-in (340hp), T8 plug-in (390hp) gasoline engines and D3 2.0 (150hp) and D4 2.0 (190hp) diesel engines.

The new generation of the V60 will be produced in Gent, Belgium, at the rate of 100,000 units per year, according to Inovev, to which must be added 50,000 units per year of the S60 sedan.

2018 Geneva MotorShow - Toyota
Toyota Auris

Toyota presents the new generation Auris  sedan. This C-segment sedan, which is mainly sold in  hybrid version, will continue to be produced in England , as currently , and could  squeeze out the Avensis, which may not be replaced.

The new Auris is built on Toyota's new global platform TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture).

This new generation will not be available in diesel, but only in petrol (1.2) and hybrids (1.8 and 2.0).

It competes with general segment sedans such as VW Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Renault Megane, Peugeot 308, Fiat Tipo, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Hyundai i30, and Kia Ceed, with the advantage of  its hybrid powertrain.

2018 Geneva MotorShow - Skoda
Skoda Vision X Concept

Skoda presents the Vision X Concept that prefigures their B-segment SUV and completes the SUV range, which already includes the Kodiaq(D-segment) and Karoq (C-segment)

The Vision X Concept  combines  three types of energies: gasoline, natural gas and electricity.

The concept is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that can run on compressed natural gas (CNG), which pulls the front end while an electric motor propels the rear axle.

The platform houses a gas tank, two gas cylinders and two 48V batteries.

It is not certain that this technology will be extended to the next SUV or  to other Skoda models in the near future.

Neverthelessit shows  the manufacturer's strategy based on both hybrid and 100% electric vehicles .In 2019  Skoda  will  present  a hybrid plug-in version of the Superb, and in  2020 a 100% electric model.

2018 Geneva MotorShow - Lexus
Lexus UX

Lexus presents the UX SUV that replaces r the CT saloon that did not meet the manufacturer's goals.

Replacing a sedan with an SUV is not an absurd idea as sedans are losing market share to SUVs, which today represent one in three sales.

This segment C SUV is the third SUV marketed by the Lexus brand, after the RX (E segment) and the NX (D segment).

The UX  is based on the highly successful Toyota CHR TNGA platform, and will be equipped with two petrol engines including one hybrid.

The model will be marketed at the end of 2018 in the US and in 2019 in Europe.

2018 Geneva MotorShow - Volkswagen
VW I.D. VIZZION

VW presents an electric vehicle concept that prefigures the brand's future electric F-segment sedan, which completes the brand's electric concept range, consisting of the ID (D segment sedan), ID Buzz (MPV), ID Crozz(SUV). All these vehicles share the same modular electrical platform, called “MEB".

The goal announced by VW is to sell 1 million electric vehicles per year from 2025.

The model is equipped with a 100% electric motor, with a motor on each axle. Each engine is powered by a 111 KWh battery  for a total power of 306 hp and a reported range of 665km (NEDC cycle).

The  I.D. Vizzion  features level 5 autonomous driving.

VW will release a serial version of this concept in 2022.
