Audi A3
- Audi is presenting at the Geneva Motor Show 2020 the new generation of the Audi A3 (C-segment sedan) which is based on the MQB platform and equipped with the engines from the C-segment range of VW group’s sedans, namely the Volkswagen Golf, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia. It is also equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine (PHEV) which was already available on the previous Audi A3 and which is available on the new Volkswagen Golf.
- The new Audi A3 will still be produced at the Ingolstadt (Germany) plant, but as for the Golf, it will no longer be available in a 3-door version.
- It was however in a 3-door version that the first Audi A3 was launched in 1996.
Audi E-Tron Sportback
- the Audi E-Tron produced in Belgium in the plant of Forest (Brussels) started at a low production rate, as its sales has not exceed 20,000 units in 2019 while the carmaker’s target was set at 45,000 units per year.

- The carmaker has announced a new coupe version (named Sportback) that will be added to the current E-Tron. Audi hopes to double the sales volume of E-Tron with two different bodies.
- The new E-TronSportback has the same technical characteristics as the standard E-Tron and will be produced in the same Belgian plant in Forest, at a rate of 20,000 to 25,000 units per year according to Inovev.
- As a reminder, the Audi E-Tron use the MLB platform and not yet the SEM platforms used on the Volkswagen ID.

Skoda Octavia
- Skoda unveiled the new generation of the Skoda Octavia (sedan from C / D segment). This model has become over the years the best-selling car of the Czech carmaker range, as it now represents more than 30% of Skoda's worldwide sales.
- In 2019, there were just over 330,000 units of this model produced in the world, including 210,000 in the Czech Republic, 100,000 in China and 22,000 in Russia, excluding CKDs destined for India and of Ukraine.
- The Octavia is more produced than the Fabia (less than 200,000 units in 2019) and Kodiaq (less than 200,000 units in 2019).
- The new Octavia will still be produced in three main countries, the Czech Republic (Mlada Boleslav), China (Shanghai) and Russia (Nizhny Novgorod).
- Inovev expects 300,000 units produced worldwide each year, most of them in the Czech Republic, where the Octavia is also the best-selling model in this market.

Seat Leon
- After successively launching three SUVs from different segments (Arona from B segment, Ateca from C segment , Tarraco from D segment) which meet the growing demand for SUVs all over Europe and even worldwide, the Spanish carmaker Seat (a subsidiary of the group Volkswagen) has just unveiled the fourth generation of its C segment sedan, the Leon.
- Designed on the Volkswagen group’s MQB Evo platform, the new Leon is 9 cm longer than the old one (4.37m) and its wheelbase increases by 5 cm (2.67m) which improves cabin space.
- It will be produced on the Spanish site of Martorell as previously.
- Inovev forecasts a volume of 150,000 units per year, slightly less than the volumes produced between 2014 and 2018, a period when the Seat SUVs had not yet been successful. Today, sedans are less popular with customers.

Volkswagen Golf
- Volkswagen introduced the eighth-generation Golf, which remains the best-selling car in Europe and one of the best-selling Volkswagen cars in the world. Even if it did not have the honors of a presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019, unlike the ID 3, the new Golf will show commercial results much more important than it, since Inovev expects a production of 500 000 units a year, just in Europe.
- ID 3 will take several years to reach 100,000 units a year, which seems to be its maximum potential in the 2020s. But it is true that the ID 3 will recover some of the customers of the Golf which could have reached 550,000 or even 600,000 units a year in Europe, because both models are in direct competition.
- The new Golf retains almost the dimensions of the old and its production will be concentrated on the site of Wolfsburg (Germany) and no longer on two different sites (Wolfsburg and Zwickau) as before. ID 3 has taken its place on the Zwickau site.
- The new Golf is still based on the MQB platform. Finally, the 100% electric version is not renewed since it is replaced by ID 3.
Volkswagen ID 4
- After presenting the Volkswagen ID 3 at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, the German carmaker unveiled few weeks after the Volkswagen ID 4 which a SUV variant of the ID 3.
- It has all the technical characteristics of the ID 3, is marketed in the C segment as the ID 3 and will be produced in the same production plant, in Zwickau (Germany).
- As for the ID 3, the ID 4 will be also marketed under Seat and Skoda brands, which will also be produced in Zwickau. All together, six different models from 3 different brands (3 sedans and 3 SUVs) will be produced in this plant.
- As a reminder, Volkswagen has set the production capacity of the Zwickau plant at 200,000 units per year of BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), including 100 000 units for the ID 3 and its Seat and Skoda rebranded versions, and 100 000 units for the ID 4 and its Seat and Skoda versions.
- This volume should be reached in the second part of the 2020s, as the production will grow slowly and gradually. The market is not yet ready to buy massively a BEV.
