BMW will launch its first compact MPV by 2014
- If compact minivan general brands saw their sales decline for several years, premium brands saw their sales grow, like the Mercedes B-Class, which had sold 160,000 copies in 2012 against 80,000 in 2011. BMW and Audi therefore prepare their own compact MPV to respond to Mercedes B-Class
- BMW will launch by 2014 its first compact minivan, named Family Tourer. This model will be able to accommodate up to 7 passengers (like a Renault Grand Scenic or Citroen Grand Picasso) and borrow the platform of the future recreational vehicle X1 launched in 2015.
- The Family Tourer will be the first BMW model to have a front-wheel drive architecture and not driven by rear well drive or all-wheel drive. Today only the Mini from the BMW Group is equipped with front wheel drive.
- In addition to the Family Tourer launched in 2014 and the future X1 launched in 2015, BMW plans to launch an X2 Coupe (derived from the 1st Series ) by 2014 and an alternative trunk sedan of the 1st Series in 2015 (competitor of the Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes CLA).
- The new generation of the 1st Series is scheduled for 2018 (in a 5-door version) and 2019 (in a 3-door version), the current 1-Series dating back from 2011.

New model transfer from Ford Europe
- Details
New model transfer from Ford Europe
- Ford currently produces the Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max (vehicles based on the same platform) in the Belgian Genk plant. The plant was opened in the 60s, at the time of the successful Taunus in Europe.
- Since then, like most general manufacturers, Ford has lost a lot of its market share on European soil (the manufacturer currently holds 7.4% of the European market against 8.2% in 2007 and 8.4% in 2000) .
- Its European plants operate at less than 60% of their production capacity in 2013, against 70% in 2010 and 85% in 2007.
- Ford has decided to close the plant in Genk by 2014 (now operating at less than 35% of its capacity). The Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max will be transferred to the Valencia plant (Spain) in September 2014 where are currently manufactured the Kuga, C-Max and Grand C-Max.
- The plant now operates at less than 45% of its capacity, following the transfer to Cologne of the Fiesta and the transfer of the Focus to Saarlouis (these sites are pilot sites for these two models) and also after the decline in sales of compact minivans in Europe (segment of the C-Max and Grand C-Max).
- To free necessary space needed to accommodate the Valencia Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max, the production of compact minivans C-Max and Grand C-Max MPV will toggle during the summer of 2014 to the German factory in Saarlouis.

Maruti alone accounts for 45% of sales in India, while Renault-Nissan holds only 2% but seeks 10% by 2016, thanks to the The Datsun Go, better positioned in this market than a Nissan Micra or a Dacia Sandero (more expensive and larger ).
