Assessment of UK sales (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In the first half of 2015, the British market (PC+UV) grew by 8.1% to 1.55 million units. As for Germany, France and Europe in general, sales of commercial vehicles have progressed well (+ 20% reaching 182 400 units), and that of passenger cars grew by 6.7% (1.38 million units).
- By segment, solid growth is recorded for segment D (+ 24.5% reaching 205 000 units). Only segments A (-3.3% decreasing to 125 700 units) and E (-1.8% decreasing to 78 800 units) are down. By body, like other European countries, sales of SUV are still progressing (+ 24.9% reaching 325 300 units) at the expense of the MPV category (-25.8% decreasing to 80 500 units).
- By brand, Ford, is the leading brand in the country and increased by 6.2% to almost 224 000 units. The brand benefited from the growth of the Kuga SUV (+44.8% reaching 16 600 units) and the launch of the Ecosport (4 100 units). Furthermore, the Transit Custom also rose sharply (+25.2% to 36 000 units), making it the fifth best-selling vehicle in the United Kingdom, regardless as to whether they are PC or UV , this is something quite unusual in a mature market. Overall, all brands grew, apart from Honda (-7.6% decreasing to 27 600 units), Suzuki (-10.3% decreasing to 17 700 units) and DS (-26.3% reaching less than 10 000 units). These three brands are awaiting new developments that are expected to arrive in the second half of the year or early 2016.
- By model, sales of the Ford Fiesta were almost stable (-1% decreasing to 71 200 units), while the new version of the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa increased by 19% to nearly 52 000 units.

Assessment of US production (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In the first half 2015, car production (PC + UV) in the US increased slightly by 1.2% to 6.1 million units. There has been a production slowdown after several booming years, post-automotive crisis. The production of passenger cars increased by 3.5% (4.7 million units) while that of commercial vehicles declined by 5.7% (to 1.4 million units).
- The Ford Group, the leading carmaker in the US, fell by 2% to 1.2 million units, ahead of GM that was also down by 2.7% (1 million units), while FCA is almost stagnant at 917 000 units (+ 0.9%). Strong growth is to be credited to foreign groups: BMW (+11.8% reaching 197 000 units) thanks to the ramp-up of the X4 and the progression of the X6 ; Daimler (+ 97.4% reaching 174 600 units), which benefited from the transfer of the Mercedes C Class (55 000 units produced); Subaru (+ 35% reaching 115 200 units) thanks to sales of the Legacy / Outback.
- By model, the F series remained the most produced models, despite a decline of 15.6% (to 432 000 units). Nevertheless, coming months should see an increase with the ramp up of the new F-150. The Japanese Toyota Camry sedan saw its production stagnated (+ 0.8% reaching 233 690 units), while its rival, the Honda Accord was down by 19.4% (to 195 000 units). It is interesting to point out the increase of the Chrysler 200, recently renewed (+ 108% reaching 98 800 units).

- In the first half of 2015, car production (PC + UV) in Britain has remained stable (+ 0.9% to 834 000 units). Production of passenger cars has remained almost unchanged (+ 0.1% reaching 792 000 units) while that of commercial vehicles increased by 19.7% (42 000 units).
- With a production growth of 6.3% (246 000 units), the Tata Motors group and its subsidiary JLR (Jaguar - Land Rover) has become the largest producer of vehicles in the UK in the first half of the year. The Indian group benefited from the launch of the Discovery Sports (40 500 units), the Jaguar XE (10 500 units) and the good shape of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport (+ 16.2% to 80 000 units), offsetting the decline of the Evoque (-29.3% to 45 000 units). The Tata Motors group is just ahead of the Renault-Nissan group, which saw its production fall by 12.8% (245 500 units), following the drop in sales of the Nissan Note (-51% to 20 800 units) and Nissan Juke (-20.8% to 59 000 units). The BMW Group had a strong growth in this half (+ 29.6% to 95 600 units) thanks to the success of the Mini brand. GM Group also rose significantly (+ 24% reaching 78 800 units) thanks to its Vivaro utility. The production of the Opel / Vauxhall Astra should also increase in coming months.
- By model, the Nissan Qashqai remains the most produced vehicle in the UK (+ 6.5% to 156 000 units), ahead of the Toyota Auris, which is declining slightly (-2.1% reaching 68 800 units). With a drop in production, the Nissan Juke is now the third most-produced vehicle in Britain.

Assessment of French sales (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In the first half of 2015, the car market (PC + UV) in France rose by 5.5% to almost 1.2 million units compared to the same period last year. Sales of passenger cars rose by 6.1% (to just over 1 million units) and those of commercial vehicles by 2.2% (175 000 units).
- All market segments increased, with a strong increase in segment A (+ 17.9% to 82 000 units) and segment D (16% to 81 400 units), like in Germany. Following the same trend, it is the SUV market that has grown the most (+ 22.4% to 258 000 units) while the MPV market was down by 7.7% (125 000 units). SUVs are reinforcing themselves as the second category of bodywork sold in France and Europe.
- By brand, Renault consolidated its leading position in the French market with an increase of 6.4% of sales (269 000 units), ahead of Peugeot (+ 6.5% reaching 206 000 units). Citroën it is down 2.7% (to 136 000 units). Significant increases were to be credited to Hyundai (+ 54.2% reaching 12 000 units) and Mini (+ 48.5% reaching 11 300 units). The progress of Fiat (+ 12.5% reaching 46 600 units) that benefit from the novelty effect of the 500X SUV must also be acknowledged.
- By model, despite a slight decline in sales, the Renault Clio remains the market leader (-3.5% reaching 76 000 units), ahead of the Peugeot 208 (+ 0.9% reaching 54 000 units). The 308 took full advantage of its ramp-up, with an increase of 42.5% of sales (43 500 units). The SUVs Dacia Duster (-13.7% reaching 20 000 units) and 3008 (-13.6% reaching 18 000 units) both declined pending for their renewal, while the Citroën C4 Cactus just crossed the 10 000 sales threshold.

Assessment of German sales (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In first half 2015, the German automotive market (PC + UV) was up 5.2% compared to the same period last year. It reached a little over 1.6 million units.
- All market segments increased; with the exception of segment F, the segment for luxury sedans, down slightly by 1.7%. The sharp rise benefited segment A (+ 15.9% reaching 135 000 units) and segment D (+ 9% reaching 280 000 units). In terms of bodies, SUVs were up (+ 10.3% to 300 000 units) while the MPVs were down 6.8% (160 000 units).
- By brand, VW, the leader of the German market rose by 8.6% (reaching 350 000 units), ahead of Mercedes (+ 4.3% to 142 500 units), Audi (+ 5.5% to 140 000 units) and BMW (+ 2.9% to 123 000 units). Note that non-German brands are those that are down with the exception of Nissan which is up 10% to 35 500 units. Smart, with the arrival of the Forfour, significantly increased by 56.6% to reach 20 000 units.
- By brand, the first three are models sold by VW, with the Golf (+ 19.3% to 136 000 units), Passat (+ 33.8% to 47 500 units) and Polo (9.9 35% to 35 000 units). Conversely the Tiguan, at the end of its life cycle (-15.3% to 29 000 units) and Touran, in a declining segment (-19% to 22 000 units) dropped in the German market.
