The Chinese market became Tesla's first market
- The Chinese market became the primary market for Tesla, the California BEV maker. In March 2021, Tesla registered 35,478 vehicles in China while its sales did not exceed 23,050 units in the United States and 23,652 units in Europe.
- In the first quarter of 2021, Tesla registered almost as many cars in China (69,280 units) as in the United States (69,300 units), but as of April there is little doubt that sales in China will exceed those carried out in the United States. In addition, Tesla registered 30,683 units in Europe in the first quarter of 2021. No one would have imagined that the Chinese market would have become Tesla's number one market so quickly. The Californian carmaker inaugurated its Chinese plant only a year ago, and the Model 3 was immediately very successful.
- Tesla thus represents 1.5% of the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2021, i.e. a share ten times lower than that of the Volkswagen group, but the carmaker remains the second electric car brand in China, thanks to its Model 3 (52,859 sales ) and Model Y (16,422 sales). The Wuling brand remains ahead, thanks to the success of the HongGuang Mini EV (96,674 sales) which could reach 400,000 sales for the whole of 2021, against 132,000 in 2020.
- Finally, it should be noted that the market share in BEV and PHEV sales reached 21% for GM-Wuling, 14% for Tesla, 11% for BYD, 7% for SAIC MG-Roewe, 6% for Great Wall and 5% for NIO . These six carmakers occupy 64% of this specific market.

Inovev forecasts 200,000 units per year of the new Peugeot 308

Inovev forecasts 200,000 units per year of the new Peugeot 308
- Peugeot has unveiled the new generation of the 308, a C-segment sedan that theoretically rivals models from mainstream brands such as VW Golf, Renault Megane, Citroën C4, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Hyundai i30, Kia Ceed and Fiat Tipo. But the carmaker indicates that they want to position the new 308 against the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Mercedes Class A, so a rather premium positioning.
- No big change at the aesthetic level, the new 308 also uses the EMP2 platform of the previous generation (shared with the Peugeot 3008/4008 and 508) as well as its 1200 petrol engines (3 cylinders of 110 hp and 130 hp) and 1500 diesel (4 cylinders of 130 hp). But the big news is the arrival, firstly of the plug-in hybrid versions based on 1600 gasoline (180 hp and 225 hp) and secondly of a battery electric version which will be launched next year and will compete with the Volkswagen ID3 and the future Renault MeganeEV. However, this “e-308” will not use the e-VMP platform scheduled for 2023, but the current EMP2 platform.
- The future Opel Astra will opt for the same electrification system, meaning not based on the e-VMP platform. In both cases, we are talking about a range of between 300 km and 400 km according to the WLTP cycle. The new Peugeot 308 (4.36m x 1.85m x 1.44m) will be produced in Mulhouse instead of Sochaux, benefiting from the transfer of the Peugeot 2008 from Mulhouse to the Vigo plant last year. Inovev forecasts 150,000 units produced in 2021 and then 200,000 units per year, including 10% to 15% of electric versions.

Inovev forecasts 100,000 units per year of the new VW Taigo

Inovev forecasts 100,000 units per year of the new VW Taigo
- Volkswagen has confirmed the launch in the fall of 2021 of a new SUV exclusively for the European market, the Taigo. This new model will be derived from the Volkswagen Nivus, an SUV already marketed in South America since summer 2020 and produced in the Brazilian plant of Sao José Dos Pinhais. These two models are in a way the coupe version of the T-Cross SUV (segment B) which is currently produced in Spain (Pamplona), China (Shanghai) and Brazil (Sao José Dos Pinhais).
- The Taigo will be based on the MQB A0 platform already widely used by the carmaker, in particular on the VW Polo, Audi A1, Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia. The Taigo will be equipped with the same engines (several variants of the 1.0 TSI petrol) as the T-Cross, alongside which it will be produced at the Pamplona plant. There will be no diesel engine on this model, nor a hybrid engine.
- This compact SUV 4.27 m long, 1.78 m wide and 1.49 m high will be the eleventh SUV of the Volkswagen brand and the twenty-eighth SUV of the Volkswagen group.
- In 2020, 285,000 T-Crosses were sold worldwide, which represents an increase of 4% compared to 2019, while the Polo sedan of the same B-segment suffered a sharp drop in sales (-34 %), to 465,000 copies (including the three volumes sedan version called Virtus). For Volkswagen, it is therefore a question of relaunching sales of its B-segment cars. Inovev expects 100,000 sales per year of the new Taigo SUV.

Inovev forecasts 20,000 units per year of the new BMW i4
- 说明
Inovev forecasts 20,000 units per year of the new BMW i4
- The German carmaker BMW has unveiled its battery electric vehicle, the i4, a sedan which is equivalent of the 4 series in terms of dimensions (which explains its name). The i4 is therefore well above the i3 which has been marketed since 2013 but which could quickly give way to this new model. The i4 is therefore the brand's fourth BEV, after the i3 compact sedan and the iX and iX3 SUVs, and the fifth in the BMW group if we include the Mini E. Its price will be over 50,000 euros.
- The BMW group, which is one of the pioneers of BEV with the i3, is gradually expanding its range of electric vehicles, with a different launch strategy compared to its competitors Audi, which started with the e-Tron (SUV E-segment), then the e-Tron GT (E-segment sedan) and recently the Q4 e-tron (C-segment SUV), or Mercedes, with the EQC (D-segment SUV), EQA and EQB (C-segment SUVs) and EQS (F-segment sedan).
- With the i4 sedan, sales volume is not expected to exceed 25,000 units per year, given its high price tag. Inovev forecasts 8,000 sales in 2021, 11,000 in 2022, 18,000 in 2023 and 21,000 in 2024.
- The BMW i4, which will be marketed in Europe this fall, will compete with the Tesla Model 3, but will likely take customers to the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. The Audi E-Tron GT is much more expensive (100,000 to 150,000 euros).
- The BMW i4 is based on the CLAR platform, shared with the 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and 8 Series. The carmaker announces for its new model a range of 590 km according to the WLTP cycle. The BMW i4 will be produced in Munich.

Sales evolution comparison between Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini
- 说明
Sales evolution comparison between Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini
- Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini remain the most representative Italian Grand Touring car brands. There have been other brands in the past like Iso Rivolta, De Tomaso or Bizzarrini, but these brands are long gone.
- Today, Maserati is part of Stellantis, Lamborghini is part of the Volkswagen group, while Ferrari has become independent again (since its separation from the FCA group by Sergio Marchionne).
- Ferrari has gradually grown from 5,000 annual sales to 10,000 in 2019, and may surpass that volume for the first time with the arrival of an SUV, which will be launched in 2021 or 2022.
- Maserati was at the same level until 2012, when the brand's strategy changed, reaching a wider market from 2013. The Ghibli sedan (2013) and the Levante SUV (2016) , both from E segments, have thus extended the Maserati range to compete models from German Premium brands, ending an elitist range made up of the Quattroporte sedan (F segment) and its coupés and convertibles versions.
- This expansion of the range has enabled a new market to access Maserati models, up to 42,800 in 2017 compared to a volume of between 5,000 and 10,000 annual sales before 2013. Since 2017, the Ghibli and Levante were not renewed and sales dropped to 25,965 units in 2019 and 21,680 in 2020.
- Lamborghini has always been at a much lower level than Ferrari and Maserati (2,000 annual sales on average), but since the arrival of the Urus SUV in 2018, sales have taken off significantly (5,750 in 2018 and 8,205 in 2019).
