Context
- FAW, one of two Chinese carmakers – along with SAIC – producing Volkswagens under license in China, is expected to present the first model of the ID AURA series, the all-electric T6 SUV, at the Beijing Motor Show 2026.
- It is an upper-mid-range SUV, similar to the Volkswagen Tayron but powered by an electric motor.
- It plays practically in the same league as the Audi Q6 E- Tron .
- This model is one of about ten ID models with alternative powertrains (BEV, PHEV or REEV) that Volkswagen is expected to launch in 2026 and 2027, including three from the UNYX series designed with Anhui (JAC), four from the ERA series designed with SAIC and two from the AURA series designed with FAW.
- FAW-Volkswagen has set itself the medium-term strategic goal of having new energy vehicles account for 60% of its total sales by 2030, which is a very ambitious target, given that BEV sales forecasts agree on a rate of 30% in 2026.
