Inovev plans 100,000 units per year of the new Mazda CX60 SUV
The Japanese Mazda, one of the last major manufacturers still independent, intends to gradually move from the status of generalist manufacturer to specialist (or Premium) manufacturer, a status which according to him offers greater potential for sales and profit (the models being sold more expensive ). Proof of this gradual entry into Premium is the launch of the CX60 SUV, which is the brand's largest SUV (D segment), also equipped with a rechargeable hybrid engine (PHEV). This is also the first model of the brand equipped with this type of engine. By its dimensions and its price, the CX60 is clearly positioned in front of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC and Volvo XC60. It is priced from 53,000 to 60,000 euros depending on the version.

4.75 m long, the CX60 exceeds the Mazda CX5 by 20 centimeters. It will be produced in Hofu (Japan), alongside the brand's other SUVs, namely the CX30, CX5, CX8, CX9, as well as the new CX50 which targets the Jeep brand. But unlike the latter, which will only be marketed in North America, the CX60 will be sold on all continents.

Its engine is a 2.5-liter 192 hp petrol engine supplemented by a 136 hp electric motor, which represents a total power of 328 hp. The model is of course four-wheel drive.

In 2021, the Mazda CX3, CX30, CX5, CX8 and CX9 were produced respectively at 48,000 units, 69,000 units, 306,000 units, 22,000 units and 56,000 units, making a total of 500,000 SUVs produced by the manufacturer last year, out of a total of 740,000 Mazda vehicles produced in Japan in 2021. Inovev expects 100,000 units per year of the new CX60.

Nissan announces that it wants a 100% electrified range in Europe in 2030
The Japanese manufacturer Nissan, an ally of Renault and Mitsubishi in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group (3rd largest manufacturer in the world), is emerging from several years of lethargy in which it has lost a lot of influence at the global level, its sales having fallen from 5.8 million vehicles in 2017 to 5.2 million in 2019 and 4.1 million in 2021. This decline is partly explained by a range that is poorly adapted to current demand. Nissan has just announced its strategy in terms of electrification of its vehicles, mainly in Europe ("Ambition 2030"), because the situation in Japan and China (two of its biggest markets) has not yet been defined with precision.

In Europe, Nissan plans a 100% electrified model range in 2030, i.e. both non-plug-in hybrids (HEV-mild and HEV-full), plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and 100% electric (BEV). Five new models will be launched in 2022: the Ariya (D-segment 100% electric SUV), the Juke E-Tech (B-segment hybrid SUV), the Qashqai e-Power (C-segment hybrid SUV), the new generation the X-Trail (D-segment hybrid SUV) and the Townstar (100% electric light utility vehicle) derived from the Renault Kangoo.

In this program, we observe that the Nissan Leaf sedan (of which nearly 600,000 copies have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2010) will not be replaced as such, because the manufacturer, which favors SUVs, thinks that the Ariya will be able to take over the Leaf's clientele, which is a risky calculation. On the other hand, the launch of a 100% electric Micra sedan in 2024 is indeed on the agenda. Nissan aims to regain a sales volume of at least 300,000 sales in Europe by 2030.

Kia Announces 2030 Lineup Electrification Strategy
Kia, Hyundai's partner in the Korean group Hyundai-Kia, has announced its strategy for the electrification of its range for 2030. Of four million vehicles of its own brand sold worldwide by this deadline, Kia estimates that 30% will have to be (BEV), i.e. 1,200,000 units, and 22% must be hybrid (HEV) or rechargeable hybrid PHEV), i.e. 900,000 units. In total, 2,100,000 brand vehicles will be electrified in 2030. To achieve this result, the Korean brand plans to launch 14 electric vehicles by 2028, i.e. two new models per year over the next seven years.

Kia is counting on a gradual growth in sales of these 100% electric vehicles over the next few years, counting on 160,000 sales in 2022, 800,000 in 2026 and 1,200,000 in 2030. The new 100% electric models will be under the EV designation, such as EV6, EV7, EV8 and EV9. The EV9 model will be launched in 2023. Electric vans and pick-ups will complete the range, as well as an entry-level model not listed under the term EV.

Kia has confirmed that mid-size BEVs will be produced in Europe from 2025, small-size ones in India from 2025, and full-size pickups in the United States from 2024.

In 2021, Kia sold 2.78 million vehicles worldwide in 2021 and expects to sell 3.15 million in 2022, 6.5% more than the previous year, despite the semiconductor crisis and the consequences of the war in Ukraine. The manufacturer's target of 4 million sales in 2030 would correspond to a growth of 27% compared to 2022.

Hyundai Announces 2030 Lineup Electrification Strategy
Korean automaker Hyundai has announced its global strategy for electrifying its lineup. It will launch 17 new 100% electric models by 2030 (11 under the Hyundai brand and 6 under the Genesis brand) and expects to be able to sell 560,000 100% electric vehicles in 2025 then 1,870,000 100% electric vehicles in 2030, which according to him, would correspond to 7% of the world electricity market at this time.

This means that Hyundai expects 27 million BEVs of all brands in 2030 worldwide, mainly in China, Europe, North America and South Korea. The 100% electric models launched soon will be the Ioniq 6 (2022) and Ioniq 7 (2023) as well as two Genesis brand models. The automaker hasn't specified the number of hybrid vehicles (HEV and PHEV) it expects to sell in 2030, but Inovev estimates that quantity (compared to Kia's targets) at around 1,500,000 units.

In 2021, Hyundai produced 3.69 million vehicles worldwide and expects to sell 4.32 million in 2022, 17% more than the previous year, despite the semiconductor crisis and the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which is a very ambitious goal.

Assuming that Hyundai is considering a 30% proportion of BEVs in its sales in 2030, as for Kia, it is a total of 5.61 million vehicles, all engines combined, that the manufacturer plans to sell worldwide in 2030, which corresponds to a growth of 30% compared to 2022. As an indication, Kia's forecast sales growth between 2022 and 2030 is 27%, a very similar figure.

Volkswagen suspends production in Russia
The Volkswagen group has announced that it will suspend its automobile production in Russia, pending the end of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. In addition, the German manufacturer has decided to suspend its exports to Russia with immediate effect. Currently, the German manufacturer, which locally produces Volkswagens and Skodas (in comparable proportions), has two factories in Russia: Kaluga and Nijni-Novgorod.

In 2021, the Volkswagen group produced 173,000 cars (including 121,000 in Kaluga and 52,000 in Nizhny Novgorod) compared to 185,000 in 2020 and 216,000 in 2019. This production volume represents 14% of automotive production in Russia in 2021 , the German manufacturer being supplanted by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group (40% of production in Russia) which owns the Lada brand and by the Hyundai-Kia group (30% of production in Russia).

As for the Volkswagen group's exports to Russia, they remain low, not exceeding 31,000 units in 2021 (including 16,000 Audis and 6,000 Porsches) compared to 36,000 in 2020 and 37,000 in 2019.

In conclusion, the Volkswagen group after establishing itself on the Russian market between 2008 and 2014, going from sales close to zero to a volume of 200,000 units per year, stabilized at this level in 2018 and 2019, before decline from 2020. It is surprising that the group has not planned to manufacture Audi brand Premium models there, while BMW and Mercedes have had production plants in Russia for several years.
