Context
- Japanese automaker Nissan, which has been present in China since the early 2000s through its partnership with Dongfeng , has seen its sales gradually decline since 2019. Its production volume in China has fallen from 1,308,000 units in 2019 to 1,106,000 in 2021, 738,000 in 2023, and 629,000 in 2025 (a 52% decrease in six years). To try and revive its fortunes, Nissan is expected to unveil the new NX8 SUV at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show. This SUV, positioned in the most popular segment in the Chinese market, the D segment, officially launched this month and offers both electric (BEV) and range-extended electric (REEV) powertrain options. The NX8 is 4.87 m long, 1.92 m wide and 1.68 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.92 m. The NX8 is the third model in the N series that Dongfeng Nissan has introduced to the Chinese market, following the all-electric N7 sedan and the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan.
