- The most produced segment D SUV in the world in 2016 is the Nissan Rogue (also marketed as X-Trail ) which totaled 810,000 units. This model launched in 2014 is currently produced in four different countries: Japan (323,000 units) for the Japanese and European markets, China (180,000 units) for the Chinese market, the USA (170,000 units) and Korea ( 137,000 units) for markets in North America. The model should be replaced in 2020.
- In the world market for D segment SUVs, the Nissan Rogue / X-Trail is ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (755,000 units, including 377,000 produced in Japan and 250,000 in Canada), the Honda CRV (680,000 units, including 210,000 produced in Canada, 180,000 in China and 170,000 in the US), Hyundai Santa Fe (370,000 units including 203,000 produced in Korea and 140,000 in the US), the Jeep Cherokee (355,000 units, including 245,000 produced in the US and 110,000 in China) and The Mazda CX5 (350,000 units, including 300,000 produced in Japan and 50,000 in China). The overall D-segment SUV market was more than 6 million units in 2016.
- In Europe (29 countries), the Premium brands produced most of the D segment SUVs in 2016 ,and mass production OEMs produce very few of these models on this continent. The most popular models in Europe are the Volvo XC60 (170,000 units), Audi Q5 (158,000 units), Mercedes GLC (118,000 units) and Land Rover Discovery Sport (89,000 units) which are sold in Europe and exported to the whole world.
