GMC starts marketing the new generation of the Acadia
- The model range of GMC (subsidiary of the GM group, which offers more luxurious light trucks than the Chevrolet light trucks) is composed of the pickups Canyon (derived from Chevrolet Colorado) and Sierra (derived from Chevrolet Silverado), crossovers Terrain (derived from Chevrolet Equinox), Acadia (derived from the Chevrolet Traverse), Yukon (derived from the Chevrolet Tahoe) and Yukon XL (derived from Chevrolet Suburban) as well as a van called Savana (derived from Chevrolet Express).
- The first generation of the GMC Acadia dated back to 2006. It was, at this time, the first crossover from GMC, i.e. a vehicle combining the features of an MPV with those of an SUV. It shared its platform with the Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse which had replaced the range of genuine GM MPVs. Into the GM range, Acadia is positioned in terms of price between the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave (the Outlook has disappeared). Into the GMC range, Acadia is positioned in terms of price between the land and the Yukon.
- The new generation of the GMC Acadia, which was launched in early 2016, inaugurated the new platform that will be used on the future Chevrolet Traverse (2017). It is equipped with a 4-cylinder 2.5l direct-injection petrol gasoline engine developing 194hp and a 3.6-liter V6 engine developing310 hp. Inovev expects a volume of 110,000 Acadia produced each year on the Lansing (USA) site.
