Changan to build a new plant in Chongqing
- In 2014, the Changan group produced 2 142 466 passenger cars, an increase of 24% compared to 2013. Under its own brand names, 954 000 units were produced under Changan (+ 30% compared to 2013), 76 715 under Hafei (-18%) and 415 under Hebei (-84%). So, with these three brands, Changan is the leading 100% Chinese manufacturer in terms of sales. With its non-Chinese partners, 1 111 343 units were produced in JV (+ 24% compared to 2013), including: 811 662 units with Ford (+ 19%), 169 536 units with Suzuki (+ 19%), 103 with Mazda 207 (+ 52%) and 26 938 units with PSA (+ 840%).
- Also in 2014, the Changan Group has 1.7 million units of capacity for its three Chinese brands (including 810 000 for Changan, 400 000 for Hafei and 500 000 for Hebei) and 2.15 million units with its partners including 1.2 million for Ford, 500 000 for Suzuki, 250 000 for Mazda and 200 000 for PSA.
- The manufacturer has not reached over capacity and with the development of its business in the Chinese market Changan has announced the construction of a new assembly line with a capacity of 240 000 additional vehicles.
- The vehicles currently produced by Changan on this site are the CX20, CX30, Benni, Alsvin, Alsvin V3, OCAD, Zhishang XT, CS35, Raeton, Xingguang 4500, Changan Star 2, Changan Star S460, Honor, Taurus. No information on the vehicles that will benefit from these new capabilities has been released, but it should be noted that the C segment sedan, OCAD (+ 82.9% to 163 476 units), the Honor MPV (+ 36.6% to 143 581 units) and the SUV from C-segment, the CS35 (+ 42.4% to 108 322 units) were up sharply in 2014.
