The Most Produced C Segment Car in the World in 2016
The global market for C-segment cars was 23.70 million units in 2016, compared to 22.25 million in 2015 (an increase of 6.5%, while the all-segment market grew by almost 5%).

The most produced C segment car in 2016 was the Toyota Corolla, which has disputed this title in recent years with the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus.

The current Corolla (launched in 2013) is the 11th generation of a model whose origins go back to 1966. Since that date, more than 40 million Toyota Corolla have been produced worldwide. This is twice as much as the Volkswagen Beetle and 1.5 times more than the Volkswagen Golf. The Corolla is the best-selling car in history.

The Toyota Corolla first conquered the Japanese market where it remained the most sold car for several decades (85,000 sales in 2016), and then became one of the best-selling cars in the United States ( 378,000 sales in 2016). Finally, in recent years it has also become one of the best-selling cars in China (324,000 sales in 2016) and Australia (40,000 sales in 2016). In Europe, the Corolla  has been replaced by the Toyota Auris.

The Toyota Corolla is now produced in Japan, USA, China, Canada, Brazil, Turkey and India.

The main competitors of the Toyota Corolla worldwide are the C-segment sedans of general car manufacturers, such as Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Cruze and Honda Civic.
