Renault will export the Captur from Spain to China
- Renault has announced the marketing of its small SUV (segment B) the Captur in China over the coming weeks. The vehicles will come from Spain, since the Captur is currently only manufactured in the Renault plant of Valladolid.
- As a whole, with all its imported models, including the Koleos SUV manufactured in South Korea , Renault is targeting 40 000 sales in China in 2014, against 34 000 in 2013.
- The Captur will be exported to China in addition to those from South Korea, where the model has been made available since November 2013 under the name Renault-Samsung QM3. It should sell at between 10 000 and 15 000 units in 2014.
- These two new markets (China and Korea) are a great opportunity for the Renault Captur, which has sold 44 000 copies worldwide in the first quarter of 2014, this bodes well for a volume of over 170 000 units over the whole year, while the model is not yet marketed in China.
- It is also a great opportunity for the Spanish plant of Valladolid that will work at almost 100% of its capacity from 2017 to 2018, as announced by the company’s management.
- Beyond a certain amount (another 50 000 sales?), Renault would be encouraged to make the Captur in China, the new plant being built with its partner Dongfeng.
